Chapter 1

A dream that had him cross oceans into a foreign country. Aegis, at seven had always wanted to be a singer as he spent his afternoons after school in his grandmother's house, watching music shows. He was always fascinated with how idols inspire thousands of people with their voice. He wondered, how someone could do much with a song—he wanted to do it too. So, at thirteen, he auditioned at SM Entertainment globally and secured a spot on their trainee program. He flew in to Seoul, South Korea, leaving everything behind including his family and friends.Aegis was so close to his dreams. At sixteen, he was to debut in a boy group with the role of a main vocal. They had done photoshoots, they had recorded the song, they had perfected the choreographies—they were just waiting for D-day. He was so close, but because of a drunk driving accident at the fault of their manager, he had lost his voice from damaging his vocal chords. He was advised not to sing professionally and even if Aegis wanted to take the risk anyway, the company couldn't afford being held liable for such a risk and push back debut dates.

Chapter 2

He could have left Seoul with a pipe dream and a broken wing, but Aegis didn't. He couldn't give up on his dreams and although different from being an idol, Aegis was groomed by the company to become a producer. A composer.For a long while, Aegis was known to be grumpy. He was short-fused and frustrated with his life—at the back of his mind, he knew he could still be an idol. He refused to talk about the accident and remained tight-lipped to anyone, even his friends.But when he finally decided to talk through the push of his frenemy, Athena, it was as though he was relieved from a thorn driven deep on his heart. It felt nice. It was a breath of fresh air. He soon realized that Athena was his breath of fresh air. One thing escalated into another and they became lovers.Aegis was finally happy. He still didn't give up his dream, but he was no longer an island.
